With every booking........

I offer a complimentary pre-wedding photoshoot which is so handy for you to get to know me before your wedding day. It gives you a bit of an insight to how I will be on your wedding day and it helps to get rid of any pre-wedding nerves around the camera. It is also a really great laugh and even the shy and quietest of people have ended up really enjoying the session.

What do I wear?

Planning your pre-wedding or family photoshoot is exciting, but deciding what to wear can be overwhelming. The right outfit choices can make a huge difference in how your photos turn out.

Here are some simple tips to help you look and feel your best while keeping things budget-friendly.

1. Stick to Neutral and Complementary Colours

Neutral tones like beige, cream, soft greys, and pastels tend to work really well in photos. They create a clean, elegant look and complement natural backdrops, whether you’re shooting outdoors or in a studio. If you want to add a pop of colour, try muted tones like dusty blue, sage green, or burnt orange, which blend well without being overpowering.

2. Avoid Large Logos and Busy Patterns

Clothing with large logos, bold patterns, or overly bright colours can be distracting in photos. The focus should be on you and your connection, not a prominent brand name or clashing prints. Instead, opt for solid colours, subtle textures, or classic, small-scale patterns like delicate florals or light stripes.

3. Consider the Season and Location

Think about where and when your photoshoot is taking place. For outdoor shoots in the summer, light and breathable fabrics like linen or cotton work best. In cooler months, layering with cosy knitwear or stylish coats can add warmth and texture to your photos. If your shoot is at the beach, flowing dresses or rolled-up chinos can create a relaxed and effortless vibe and give you some amazing images.

4. Keep It Comfortable and True to You

Your outfits should reflect your personal style while still being comfortable. If you feel awkward in what you’re wearing, it will show in the photos. Choose pieces that fit well and make you feel confident. Avoid anything too tight, stiff, or fussy – the goal is to move naturally and enjoy the experience.

5. Budget-Friendly Options - Don't spend a fortune!

You don’t need to buy a brand-new outfit for your shoot. Look at what you already have in your wardrobe or consider borrowing pieces from friends or family. If you want something fresh, high-street stores or even supermarkets often have affordable, simple basics like plain white or beige t-shirts and flowing linen trousers and skirts that work really well in photos.

6. Coordinate Without Matching

For couples and families, coordinating your outfits is key, but that doesn’t mean everyone has to wear the same colour. Instead, choose a colour palette and mix complementary shades. For example, if one person wears a neutral beige, another can wear soft blues or earthy tones to create a cohesive yet natural look.

7. Pay Attention to Details

Simple details can elevate your outfit choices. Accessories like a delicate necklace, a stylish hat, or a cosy scarf can add personality without overwhelming the photo. Footwear is also important – make sure it suits the setting (e.g., comfortable shoes for a countryside walk or barefoot for a beach session).

Final Thoughts

The best photos come from feeling relaxed, comfortable, and confident. By choosing neutral, timeless clothing, avoiding loud patterns or logos, and keeping things simple, you’ll create photos that look effortlessly beautiful and stand the test of time. Choose comfort as I priority but the main thing is - have fun and enjoy your session.
